Aboriginal Interpreter Service (AIS)

The Aboriginal Interpreter Service in the Northern Territory (NT) has about 30 interpreters on staff covering the major languages of the NT, more than 270 active casual interpreters covering close to 100 languages and dialects and seven trainers from backgrounds such as linguistics, health, adult education and law. The service develops professional and accurate registered interpreters. Interpreters are trained to interpret accurately and be impartial.

The Aboriginal Interpreter Service (AIS) facilitates effective cross cultural communication between service providers and Aboriginal people who do not speak English as a first language. Provides 24 hour booking service.

Holyoake's approach to counselling and support is to help those affected by alcohol or other drugs, as well as help those closest. The misuse of alcohol and other drugs takes its toll on everyone. Unfortunately shame and stigma can often be the biggest barriers to seeking help. We have locations at Victoria Park, Midland and Wheatbelt.

Central Australian Aboriginal Alcohol Programmes Unit (CAAAPU)

The Central Australian Aboriginal Alcohol Programs Unit, or CAAAPU as everyone knows us, is an Aboriginal-controlled primary provider of culturally appropriate alcohol counselling and residential treatment services in Alice Springs. CAAAPU provides counselling and treatment services at their residential facility in Alice Springs with an eight week rehabilitation program to assist individuals of acute alcohol use problems.

CAAAPU provides a safe place for people who may be destitute, living in violent and extremely stressful environments and with long histories of substance abuse at levels that can affect their cognitive development and abilities.

We have been providing residential treatment services for many years, taking clients referred through Correctional Services, health facilities, the justice system and self referrals.
